Internship

QA Intern, Manual and Automation Testing (Playwright)

$20–$28 per hourRemote, United StatesInternshipInvent Artificial LLC

Internship, 3 to 6 months, fully remote. Strong interns may be offered a full-time role. Open to final-year students and recent graduates with up to 1 year of experience.

About the role

You will test a real-time, browser-based voice and video platform for a client project. Things break here in ways a checklist never predicts: a session that drops on a flaky network, audio that desyncs, a browser that handles microphone permissions differently from the last one. We want someone who treats that as the fun part.

This is hands-on QA from day one: manual and exploratory testing, Playwright automation, API checks and release sign-off, working directly with the engineering team. It is a real seat, not a shadowing role.

What you will do

  • Test the product. Write and run test cases against real user flows. Do functional, regression, cross-browser and exploratory testing. Reproduce and document bugs clearly enough that a developer can fix them without a follow-up call, then verify the fixes.
  • Automate the repetitive parts. Build and maintain Playwright end-to-end tests for the flows that regress every release. Use page objects, handle waits and locators properly, keep the suite fast and stable, and find out why a test failed instead of re-running it.
  • Check the APIs. Test REST endpoints in Postman: status codes, payload schema, error handling.
  • Work with the team. Join sprint planning and defect triage, track issues in Jira, sign off releases and support test runs in CI.

Why this QA work is harder than most

The bugs that matter live in real-time behaviour, not static pages:

  • Multi-user sessions with two or more people on live audio and video
  • Microphone and camera permission flows across browsers and devices
  • Session and sign-in handling through reconnects, timeouts and network drops
  • Cross-browser rendering and media behaviour

If you have broken a video call, a multiplayer app or anything real-time before, that counts for more here than years of form testing.

What you need

  • A solid grasp of the testing lifecycle: test design, bug lifecycle, functional, regression, smoke and sanity testing
  • Clear test cases and bug reports
  • Some Playwright, or strong JavaScript or TypeScript and the drive to learn it fast
  • HTML, CSS, the DOM and browser DevTools
  • Basic API testing in Postman, and Git

Nice to have

  • CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
  • SQL basics
  • WebSocket or WebRTC awareness
  • Responsive and cross-browser testing
  • Agile or Scrum

Eligibility

Final-year students and recent graduates in computer science, IT or a related field. Testing coursework or projects help, but what you can show matters more than your major.

Pay and terms

$20 to $28 an hour, W-2, paid for every hour worked, including overtime. This is our good-faith estimate of pay at hire; where you land depends on skills and experience.
